Wow, Ram Charan is really something, isn’t he?
Well, this Oscar win is a win for me on a personal level- why, you ask? Simply because the dashing Ram Charan with the smouldering eyes was once my student many, many moons back in a school named Chirec, in Hyderabad, where I taught English.
Charan, as he was known back then, had transferred from a Chennai school and took to Chirec instantly. When he expressed a desire to visit my home, I was surprised and didn’t set much store by it.
But just as my family sat down to tea, the bell rang and who should it be but Charan!
A few pleasantries exchanged with my parents and sister, and he was off.
I didn’t think too much about the visit (I have hordes of students dropping in on me!) till he attained mega-star status.
So everytime you hear Charan speak, I think I’ve earned the right to claim just a teeny tiny bit of credit for his polished speech!
